Following the release of 2020 examination results, Mr Dunlop (Acting Principal) has reported that 99.3% of A Level students in St. Mary’s Grammar School, Magherafelt were awarded 3 A* - C grades while 99.8% of all entries resulted in A* - C grades.

At GCSE, 84.2% of pupils achieved A* - B in 7 or more subjects, including English and Maths.

Speaking about the grades awarded to students,  Mr Dunlop said: “We recognise that the anticipation of this year’s examination results generated higher than normal levels of anxiety among pupils and parents given the context within which we found ourselves due to the Covid-19 pandemic.  However, we are pleased that the grades awarded to our pupils

are a fitting reflection of their academic ability, achievement potential and endeavour to the point at which their study was interrupted.  Students can be proud of the grades they have received and they are to be commended for their mature understanding of the sacrifices that had to be made to keep everyone safe during a very challenging period. I wish them all future success. I would also like to acknowledge the important role of parents/guardians in supporting their child and the school, not only in recent times but throughout their time at St. Mary’s.  Finally, I extend my sincere appreciation to the teaching staff of the school for their commitment to attaining the best possible outcomes for each student this year.”
