St. Mary's Grammar School

Pastoral Care Team

The welfare of every pupil in our care is of paramount importance to us. Therefore, pastoral care permeates all aspects of our school. We provide a caring, supportive environment where individuals are valued for their unique talents and abilities, and where all our young people can learn and develop to their full potential.

In St. Mary’s, pupils are:

  • valued and respected;
  • treated equally and fairly;
  • encouraged to reach their full potential;
  • recognised and rewarded for their efforts and success; and
  • nurtured and developed to take their place in the 21st century.

Pastoral Care Leadership Team

Role of Form Tutor

The Form Tutor is central to the pastoral care of pupils. The role of the Form Tutor is to:

  • meet with pupils on a daily basis;
  • support, encourage, and mentor pupils;
  • monitor the attendance and behaviour of pupils;
  • review the academic progress of pupils;
  • monitor the wellbeing of pupils;
  • foster positive relationships between pupils; and
  • liaise with parents/carers in relation to the wellbeing and progress of their child.

Student Health Officer

We have a Student Health Officer who is responsive to the needs of pupils with specific medical conditions and those who may need to visit the Medical Room during the school day. Our Student Health Officer is integral to the pastoral care we provide here in St. Mary’s.
