INCLUSION, EQUALITY AND DIVERSITY CHAMPION TRAINING

Posted on 04th April 2022

On Monday 4 April 2022, our recently appointed Inclusion, Equality and Diversity Pupil Champions engaged in training with the EA Equality and Diversity Unit to prepare them for their new role in school.

Through the training, pupils acquired an understanding of what is meant by the terms “inclusion”, “equality”and “diversity”.  Through consideration of real-life case studies, pupils developed their awareness of issues around stereotypes, prejudicial attitudes, discrimination and unconscious bias.  They also had an opportunity to consider the actions they can take as a team to promote inclusion, equality and diversity throughout the St. Mary’s community.  We are grateful to Emma Patterson and Melissa Meenan from EA for facilitating the training session.
