Empowering Young People: Ending Violence Against Women and Girls Workshop

On Wednesday 25 February 2026, St. Mary’s welcomed Jude Millar from Healthy Lifestylez to deliver a presentation to all Year 10 pupils on Ending Violence Against Women and Girls (EVAWG).  This presentation followed the very successful workshops attended by pupils in Years 11 – 14 in November 2025.  The presentation, generously funded by Mid-Ulster District Council, addressed important themes such as:

  • promoting respect, consent, and gender equality;
  • gender stereotypes;
  • defining masculinity;
  • encouraging healthy relationships and understanding personal boundaries;
  • mental health and emotional wellbeing;
  • the influence of social media; and
  • creating safe spaces for women and girls within our community.

Students explored the characteristics of healthy and unhealthy relationships and discussed key terms such as consent, sexism, domestic abuse, and misogyny. The workshop encouraged open dialogue, helping young people reflect on attitudes and behaviours that contribute to a safe, respectful and inclusive society.

 We extend our sincere thanks to Jude Millar for his excellent delivery of this valuable programme.
