On Friday 11 March 2022, Year 11 pupils had the opportunity to attend a screening of the Lyric Theatre production of “Blackout” by Davey Anderson. Directed by Philip Crawford, “Blackout” tells the story of James, a young man dealing with a number of challenging personal issues in difficult circumstances. The screening was facilitated by the Mid-Ulster Policing Community Safety Partnership to highlight to young people that actions have consequences and the possible repercussions of engaging in anti-social behaviour and criminal activities. The event aimed to raise pupils’ awareness of the impact that drugs and alcohol can have on decision-making and the importance of asking for help in difficult situations. We are grateful to Wendy Stevenson, PSNI Schools’ Officer, for the advice and guidance she offered to pupils in her presentation following the screening.
