NI Schools’ Business Challenge 2023
Congratulations to our Year 13 students who were successful in the NI Business Challenge Champions. The competition was jointly run by QUB, Henderson Group and BDO. The six girls were nothing short of excellent, a real credit to St Mary's. They worked tirelessly since returning from the Christmas holidays, giving up free periods, countless lunchtimes and staying in after school completing researching and putting together their presentation.
On the day the girls competed against 20 other teams and in the morning were split into 4 groups to compete for a place in the final four. The girls breathed a sigh of relief when at lunchtime it was announced that they had won their heat and would be progressing into the final to compete against Rathmore, Belfast Royal Academy and St Patricks Grammar School, Downpatrick.
The final was a little more nerve racking as they had to present to hall full of over 100 of their peers and approximately 40 adults. However, professionalism and confidence were the order of the day and after 15 minutes of deliberation the judges announced St Mary's joint winners with Rathmore.
The girls won £500 for the school a beautiful bespoke trophy and a VIP experience in a box to see the Belfast Giants.
