St. Mary's Grammar School

A-Level Success

Students from St. Mary’s Grammar School, Magherafelt have achieved another hugely impressive set of outcomes in this year’s ‘A’-Level examinations.

Following the publication of results, Mr McClean, Principal, reported that, of all examinations taken by students, 96% resulted in A*-C grades.  61% of the grades attained were A* - A and 14 students achieved 3 or 4 A* grades, gaining a collective total of 43 A* grades.

Reflecting on the performance of students, Mr McClean said: “Our young people are to be commended for the consistent hard work and diligence which yielded these excellent results.  Now is the time for them to celebrate the fruits of their labour and to look confidently towards the future.

As they move on from St. Mary’s into further education, higher education, apprenticeship programmes or employment, they do so with the very best wishes of the staff of the school who worked skilfully and with such dedication to guide, encourage and support them to realise their academic and personal potential.

I wish to express my gratitude to the teaching and teaching support staff of St. Mary’s who work tirelessly each day to ensure that every student has access to a high quality, rounded educational experience which equips them, not only with a grade portfolio, but with personal attributes that will stand them in good stead going forward in their lives and careers.

The engagement of parents and carers in their child’s education is integral to progress so it is important to recognise the hugely influential part they have played in the achievement of students.  Finally, fundamental to the success of the school is the contribution made by the Board of Governors and I wish to thank them for the expertise and pupil-centred focus which they bring to their roles.”
