Field of Dreams

Áine McCusker and Grace Conway, Year 13 students in St Mary's Grammar School, are part of the Derry Senior Ladies' football panel who have reached the TG4 All Ireland Ladies' Junior football final. The St Mary's girls are the youngest members of the team; they say winning on Sunday will be a dream come true. They play on the 28th of September 2008 in Croke Park. After a comprehensive win over Antrim in the semi final, they now face last year's finalists, London. The team has been in training for the past nine months. This is the first time Derry Senior Ladies' have reached an All Ireland Final. Mary-Jo Boyle, nee Walls, past pupil of St Mary's Grammar School, and Pearse McCallam are the managers of the team. St Mary's is very proud of the girls' and wish them every success as they go after All Ireland success.

St. Mary's Grammar School and Holy Family Primary School Pupils Enjoy Specialist Tennis Coaching

A large number of pupils recently had the opportunity to experience specialised tennis coaching at St. Mary's Grammar School in Magherafelt. The coaching sessions lasted for three weeks and were enjoyed by Year 8 pupils from St. Mary's and Primary 7 pupils from Holy Family Primary School, Magherafelt. The pupils were instructed in the skills of tennis by local coach Barry Ludlow and all thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
